About

pupupublishing was founded in 2020 by photographer Nikita Teryoshin during the pandemic. With plenty of free time and a passion for photobooks and zines, he decided to start his own publishing house.

That's how "Carte des Vins" was born, followed by "Backyard Diaries" and "O Tannenbaum".

He also co-published his first monograph, "Nothing Personal – The Back Office of War", with GOST Books (UK). The book won the first prize at PHotoESPAÑA and was shortlisted for a photobook award in Arles in 2024.

The latest publication, Game of Chairs (2026), has been nominated for the Dummy Award and the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis. With a print run ten times larger than that of the very first pupupublishing title.

The original motto was simple: Make first, think later.

Unfortunately, the publisher turned out to be a chronic overthinker, spending far too much time and sleepless nights making decisions about paper, covers and the smallest details. The quality of the final product also became much more important than originally intended.
